This, quite simply, is Irish golf at its very best. Designed and constructed as a nine hole layout in 1993 by Tom Craddock and Pat Ruddy, Connemara Isles encapsulates all that is good about old fashioned golf played in stunning surroundings with breathtaking views of Cill Chiaráin Bay, Cnoc Leitir Móir and Cnoc Mordáin.

The thatched clubhouse is the ancestral home of John, Tony and Cathal Lynch, the founders of the Connemara Isles Golf Club. Their great grandfather constructed the building in 1850 when he returned from the States as one of the survivors of the Brig St. John famine ship which perished on rocks near Boston Harbour in Cape Cod in 1849, having only departed from Galway a month before with over a hundred souls on board.

This charming course offers a unique golfing experience. The design is absolutely minimal, with undulating greens simply laid out on the land as it lies – and what a rugged, incredibly beautiful piece of land over which to route a course. Accessed by a causeway on the edge of the Atlantic at Bealadangan, Connemara Isles is way off the beaten track but the journey is well worth the effort to play golf on such wonderfully natural links land.
