Willie Campbell set out the original 6-hole course at Cohasset Golf Club but Donald Ross expanded this initial layout to eighteen holes in two stages by 1920. Ron Prichard (in 1999) and Ron Forse (in 2014) have since conducted course renovations.
Highlight holes include the longest par five on the card, the 576-yard 4th, which is rated stroke index 1. A creek slashes across the fairway and a couple of cross bunkers need to be negotiated on the way to a false-fronted green that’s surrounded by large stone formations.
On the back nine, the 267-yard 13th is another great hole – a Classic Donald Ross par 3½ short par four following a par 3½ long par three, played to a severely back-to-front sloping green that’s protected by bunkers to the left, right and front of the putting surface.
The club considers the 376-yard 16th as the “signature hole” on the course which twists between more big, rocky outcroppings on its way to a raised, bunkerless green that falls off steeply on the left.
