Chariot Run
Laconia, Indiana- Address8191 Chariot Run Dr SE, Laconia, IN 47135, USA
It is a long-established trick-of-the-trade to offer free drinks to players on the casino floor; in theory, the investment will pay off by keeping them gambling. The Chariot Run Golf Course (at Caesar’s Southern Indiana casino) features “drinks” as soon as players get off the tee at the 450-yard par four opener, and the lake will be an indicator of the risk to be expected along the rest of this 7,250 yard course from Bill Bergin.
Located across the river from Louisville, Kentucky, the course takes its theme from horse racing, a cultural institution in the region. Bergin uses the links of Scotland as his true muse, however. Fescue dwells for shots that go wide of the fairway (of course, in a less Scottish fashion, water often resides on the opposite side of the fairway) and bunkers are well-grown along their edges.
Fortunately, one does not need to be a gambler to take part in Chariot Run’s festivities...you can play it safe to the conservative sides of these wide fairways. You can also just walk on, thanks to the course’s affiliation with Troon Golf; no stay at the casino required. Of course, that also means you won’t get any free drinks.
