Located adjacent to the swampy wetlands of Chinaman Creek, the golf course at Cairns Golf Club dates as far back as the 1920s. It’s been altered quite a bit down the years, most notably by Ross Watson in the early 1990s.

Measuring just over 6,100 metres from the back markers, the Cairns course plays to a par of 72, with holes arranged as two returning nines. Water comes into play at several holes, particularly on the front nine where ponds are placed close to the green on the opening three holes.

Notable holes include the right doglegging par four 6th (rated stroke index 2); the shortest of the four par fives at the 467-metre 9th; the right doglegging par four 13th (rated stroke index 1) which often plays into the wind; and the par three 17th with water running from tee to green along the left side.
