Brudenell River

A Robbie Robinson design from the late 1960s, the Brudenell River course is the older of the two 18-hole layouts at the Brudenell River Resort on the east side of Prince Edward Island, Dundarave is the resort’s other course. Brudenell River is a classical layout with traditional bunkering and the course has the somewhat unusual configuration of six par threes, six par fours and six par fives with a total length of 6,542 yards from the back tees.

The par threes are all very good but the two short holes that run alongside the river are really special. The 163-yard 5th, with its green perched high above the river, is a great one-shotter and the spectacular 131-yard 10th forces golfers to play from island tee to island green on the river – good luck getting a three here.

In 2000, the Lorie Kane Island Challenge – the first women's professional skins game in Canada – took place at Brudenell River. Local favourite Lorie Kane competed against Nancy Lopez, Se Ri Pak and Annika Sorenstam but supporters of the two North American golfers were dismayed to see both ladies return home empty handed whilst Se Ri and Annika each pocketed over $100,000 from the event.
