The local Hull Daily Mail newspaper reported in March of the following year that “much of the funds of the club has been put to the practical means of constructing a large number of new bunkers… every hole is well guarded” which certainly indicates Braid was involved, even if he wasn’t mentioned.

Today, this parkland course extends to just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, playing to a par of 68; out in 33 then back in 35. There’s only one par five on the scorecard, at the slightly left doglegged 533-yard 10th, and the pick of the par threes is the shortest, at the 146-yard 6th hole.

The 17th is another interesting short hole, with a narrow drainage ditch zigzagging down the centre of the fairway before veering to the left of the green. The tee box for the 18th is located behind this putting surface then the fairway kinks left on its way to the home green in the southwest corner of the property.

Brough hosted the PGA Seniors Championship in 1990, when Brian Waites won the first of his two titles. The club also staged the Girls’ Amateur Championship in 2001, with Clare Queen from Scotland beating her Spanish opponent 1 up in the final.
