Brighton Lakes
Moorebank, New South Wales- Address43 Brickmakers Dr, Moorebank NSW 2170, Australia
Brighton Lakes Recreation & Golf Club (formerly New Brighton Golf Club) has had its course altered twice in modern times due to road works and housing developments and on both occasions architect Bob Harrison has stepped in to reconfigure a new 18-hole layout for the club.
In the most recent undertaking, seven new holes were introduced (#4 to #10) on land to the south of a highway that runs through the property. These holes were constructed on a flood plain beside the Georges River which borders the east side of the club. Holes #1 and #17 were also extensively modified, along with the development of a water-laden par three 18th next an enormous new clubhouse.
Highlights now include the sharply left doglegging par five 7th (doglegging left past intimidating water hazards to the green); the par three 10th (played across more water to a heart-shaped green); and the par four 17th, where the fairway crosses a meandering creek on its way to a green that sits behind a protecting front bunker.
