Founded in 1964, Breitenloo Golf Club started out with a 9-hole course fashioned by Frank Pennink and Donald Harradine, which the club expanded to 18 holes by 1971.

In 2004, Kurt Rossknecht was drafted in to renovate the greens and tees while improving fairway drainage and irrigation, providing the club with a new lease of life for the 21st century.

Configured in two 9-hole circuits, with the outward nine to the east of the clubhouse and the homeward loop to the west, Breitenloo’s downside is the disjointed nature of the two nines, where there’s a substantial walk, past the car park, clubhouse and driving range from the 9th green to the 10th tee.

The Alpine backdrop, however, goes a long way to make up for deficiencies in the routing and the golfing test is perfectly good enough to challenge the best golfers, especially from the 6,191-metre tips.
