Martin Munka has built a number of courses in recent times in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia (including Black Stork at Vel’ká Lomnica) but his building skills were extended somewhat in 2014 with the design, construction and operation of the new 27-hole golf facility at the Green Resort, close to the village of Hrubá Borša.
Established by ORAG Slovakia, a company with many years of experience in the field of golf course development, the main 18-hole course here measures 6,646 metres from the back tees, playing to a par of 72. The front nine holes are routed around several lakes, with the back nine weaving through a small housing estate before returning to the clubhouse.
Feature holes include the 561-metre 3rd hole (where a large waste area impedes approach shots to the front left of the green), the slightly uphill par three 7th (with a pronounced back to front, two-tiered green), and the short par three 16th, which plays across water to a shallow, heavily sand-protected putting surface.
