Borre
Horten, Vestfold og Telemark- AddressEskebekkveien 100, 3186 Horten, Norway
Tommy Nordström is credited with the layout of the modern day Borre course in 1991 but his design underwent a major makeover in 2005 when nine new holes were added to form “New Borre” with nine holes of the original course becoming “Gamle Back-Nine” – the Old Back Nine course.
The new 6,891-yard par 72 course is set in a gently undulating park and forest landscape around the Semb Manor House beside Lake Borre – and the halfway house at the 10th tee is a great place to stop and take in all the beautiful surrounding scenery.
There’s a fine stretch of par four holes from the 5th to the 7th beside the lake. Hole 5 “Fergemannen” plays from an elevated tee with water threatening the drive on the left all the way to an island green with a very narrow entrance. Hole 6 “Borrevannet” only measures 325 yards and has water 60 yards in front of the green to catch any underclubbed approach shots. Hole 7 “Sandodden” is a slight right dog leg to a raised green with a protecting bunker on the front right hand side.
