Bonmont G&CC
Chéserex, Vaud- AddressRte de Bonmont 31, 1275 Chéserex, Switzerland
In 1978, the Bonmont estate was acquired by Henri Ferdinand Lavanchy, a Swiss entrepreneur from Vaud and founder of the Adia recruitment agency (now Adecco), who renovated a number of the buildings then decided to add a golf course to the swimming pool, equestrian centre and tennis club that were already on site.
In 1980, a 9-hole layout designed by Donald Harradine opened for play and this course served golfers for just over twenty years. Donald’s son Peter then added another nine holes at the start of the new millennium, creating a 6,080-metre 18-hole course, rated par 71, with holes arranged as two returning 9-hole circuits.
The front nine features interesting short par fours at the 2nd and 4th, both of these holes doglegging left from tee to green. There’s only one par five on the back nine at the 477-metre 12th, where the fairway bends right to a heavily bunkered green, and the round concludes with a testing par four that plays uphill all the way to a double green that’s shared with the 9th.
