About one hour’s drive from Milan, under the watchful guard of the Monte Rosa mountain massif in the Pennine Alps lies the Conte course, one of Italy’s most picturesque layouts.

Del Conte is one of two Robert von Hagge courses at the impressive golf club Circolo Golf Bogogno. The Conte course is the marginally better of the two layouts but the Bonora course is a fine track too. The Conte opened for play in 1996 and it’s set in a sheltered wooded valley, draped over the Italian landscape in a most natural manner.

With crisp, clean air, a pleasantly mild climate and stunning Alpine backdrop there can surely be nowhere better to play golf in Italy. Laid out in a links-like style the Conte course wends its way past woodland, lakes and streams. Big hitters will be tempted to open their shoulders on one or two holes but the Conte layout is a technically challenging layout with some clever bunkering.

Undeniably, Club Circolo Golf Bogogno is one of Italy’s very best venues and with 36 differing but complementary holes it makes a wonderful venue for a day’s golf.
