Big Sky Golf and Country Club is located a 35-minute drive north of the Whistler resort at Pemberton, British Columbia, in the shadow of snow-capped Mount Currie.

In addition to the 7,001-yard 18-holer, Big Sky has substantial practice facilities, including a 350-yard, double-ended driving range, two practice holes with multiple tees and several practice greens and bunkers. The Big Sky Academy is one of the top golf teaching facilities in Canada, offering customized golf schools and programs for golfers of all abilities.

A marvelous addition to the Big Sky set-up is the 9-hole, 1,200 yard, Academy course which is maintained to the same high standard as the championship course. It is ideal, either for the low handicapper wanting to fine tune their short game, or the learner golfer who can play in a real game environment without having to actually walk the fairways of an 18-hole course.

Designed by Bob Cupp, who was the architect of Pumpkin Ridge in Oregon where Tiger Woods won his last US Amateur Championship, the Big Sky course opened in 1994. A dyke was constructed round the site of the course to control the drainage and irrigation of what was once a marshy area where potatoes were grown. It is routed around several lakes that are linked by a snaking creek on broad meadowland free of any housing development which contributes toward the serenity and tranquility of playing here.

The signature hole at Big Sky is the 14th, a 454-yard par four called “Hang Time.” As you step up to the tee, look ahead to the majestic sight of Mount Currie in the distance, often surrounded by clouds that get trapped in the nearby mountain tops. Don’t you just want to get the driver out and hit your ball as far as you can? Well go ahead and your tee shot may well appear to be suspended in mid-air as it booms out into the distance – this is one of Canada’s great driving holes, so do it justice!
