Beeston Fields Golf Club was founded in 1923, with the long-term Notts professional Tom Williamson designing an 18-hole layout which was opened by the current champion golfer, Arthur Havers, who won the Open at Troon that year.
The opening four holes occupy a relatively small compartment on the east side of the property, before the other fourteen holes are played out over the remainder of the 100-acre estate, with both the 5th and 18th returning to the clubhouse.
Highlight holes include both par threes on the front nine at the 163-yard 3rd and the 128-yard 8th, along with the slightly left doglegging 9th, which features a delightful diagonal line of cross bunkers a little way short of the green.
With no par fives on the outward half, the front nine measures almost 400 yards shorter than the inward half and these holes play to a combined par of 34, three strokes fewer than the corresponding par for the back nine.
Other notable holes include the longest of the par threes at the 194-yard 11th, back-to-back par fives at the 15th and 16th, then the short par four finisher, where the home green is surrounded by five bunkers; three in front of and two next to the putting surface.
