The Ocean course attracts all the golfing accolades at Barsebäck Golf resort because of its national and international tournament history but the shorter Pine course (formerly known as the Donald Steel course), which debuted in 1989, really doesn’t deserve to be overlooked at this wonderful golf complex on the Oresund Strait.
The layout extends to almost 5,900 metres from the back markers, playing to a par of 71 (36 out then 35 in) with water coming into play at a few holes on the front nine, most noticeably on the inside of the dogleg at the par five 4th and par four 5th. Two holes later, the 315-metre 7th narrows to squeeze past protecting ponds on either side of the fairway.
On the back nine, highlight holes include both par threes at the 13th and 15th, and sandwiched between these short holes is one of the few non doglegging par fours on the card at the 376-metre 14th, rated stroke index 1. Interestingly, each of the last three holes move substantially right to left from the tee, offering a big advantage to players who can draw the ball.
