Situated within a very large 530-acre property on the east coast of Mauritius, between the hilly interior and the sparkling Indian Ocean, the golf course at Anahita Golf & Spa Resort was constructed to USGA standard in 2008 by Ernie Els in association with Ciel Properties.

Ernie set out generously proportioned fairways on a former sugar plantation in two distinct loops of nine, incorporating some old dry-stone walls and a links-like stream into the layout.

Six of the holes occupy oceanfront settings, with the final three fairways hugging the rugged coastline back to the clubhouse.

“One of the strengths of this golf course is we were able to maximize the visual impact of the surrounding scenery, but at the same time preserve the coastline's natural beauty,” commented Ernie. “The hole routings move in and out of the trees, along the water, and back, giving players great variety and magnificent views of the ocean.”

The course hosted the AfrAsia Golf Masters as an end of season event between 2010 and 2014 when a large number of professional and amateur players participated in a week-long series of competitions. Nicolas Colsaerts won the inaugural tournament, with Max Orrin of England winning the 5th edition at Anahita. In 2015 a new tri-sanctioned tournament (AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open) was conceived and relocated to the Heritage Golf Club before returning to Anahita Golf & Spa Resort in 2016.

Wang Jeung-hun from South Korea won that event by one stroke from the Bangladesh professional Siddikur Rahman then the tournament reverted back to Heritage for one edition before returning in 2018, with Kurt Kitayama from the United States claimimg a 2-stroke victory over his nearest rivals.
