Aalborg is the second oldest golf club in Denmark with members celebrating its centenary in 2008. Starting out with a course on the eastern city of the city, the club then moved to Sohngaardsholm in 1929 but when this site was earmarked for expansion of the local university thirty years later, the club decided to move to its present site.

One of the club’s leading players at the time, Graham Lockey, is credited with enlisting Commander John Harris to design a 9-hole layout that first opened in 1968, with a further 9 holes added eight years later.

Henrik Jacobsen updated the layout in more recent times and Chris Haspel added the Blue circuit in 2006 with the assistance of head green keeper Jesper Milthers to expand Aalborg to a 27-hole facility with three loops of nine holes.

The club hosted the European Girls Team Championships in 2010.
